July 2013 marks the very first issue of the PCI community newsletter, PCI Perspectives. And Bluefin was excited that our SVP, Ruston Miles, was featured for his views on the Council and participation.
Bluefin has been a Participating Organization (PO) of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) since 2007. We regularly attend meetings and several of our payment gateway’s security features have been developed in conjunction with Council feedback, including our anticipated launch of a new encryption product later this year.
Today, the Council has nearly 700 Participating Organizations. Very few of these companies have been involved since the early stages of PCI SSC. In this first edition of the newsletter, PCI featured Participating Organizations that had been with them since the beginning and reflected on their involvement in PCI and the growth of the payment card security program.
Read Miles’ quotes (which were top-billing in the feature article) here:
“Bluefin immediately recognized the value of not only keeping up with the PCI Security Standards as they evolve with and adapt to the payment industry, but also having a voice in the creation and grooming of the standards,” stated Ruston. “As an active and long-standing Participating Organization, Bluefin can ensure that our unique perspective and position in the market is represented and taken into account in the drafting of the security standards…Meeting together with PCI SSC stakeholders from around the world and deep diving into the standards and programs has given our organization a living understanding of the standards, which helps us craft new payments initiatives in line with the intent of the standards. This helps Bluefin better plan for security, better communicate with our assessors, and improves the overall culture of security within our organization.”
The PCI Newsletter is available only to Participating Organizations. Learn more about the PCI Security Standards Council and how to become a Participating Organization, or check out their latest news.
