The case study details how the companies partnered to provide secure, integrated, omni-channel payment options for municipalities
January 19, 2021 – Atlanta, GA and Portland, OR – Bluefin, the leading provider of payment and data security solutions for government, healthcare and higher education, has released a new case study with software partner Springbrook. The case study details the benefits of digital, integrated payments backed by PCI-validated point-to-point encryption (P2PE) for utilities, government and municipalities.
Founded in 1985, Springbrook is the leading provider of fully integrated, cloud-based ERP and payments software for small and medium-sized municipalities. Springbrook’s software includes a Financial Suite, Payroll Suite, and Utility Billing through their CivicPay™ platform, helping their clients control costs, eliminate errors, and access vital information on which they and their citizens depend. Springbrook serves over 1,100 local governments and municipalities across North America.
Bluefin specializes in payment and data security solutions that secure point-of-sale (POS), mobile, unattended, call center and online transactions, including PCI-validated point-to-point encryption (P2PE) and tokenization. The company provides both integrated and stand-alone solutions for a variety of industries, with a partner network that includes 135 processors, gateways and software providers serving 34 countries.
The case study details the evolution of Bluefin and Springbrook’s partnership, from integrated payment processing to adoption of PCI-validated P2PE to secure clients’ transactions, to the implementation of digital payment methods.
“Transactional security critical and Springbrook selects partners like Bluefin that maintain the same high standards that our customers expect and demand,” says Robert Bonavito, CEO Springbrook.
While the companies partnered in 2012 to provide PCI-compliant payment processing through Springbrook’s software, Springbrook became one of the first software providers to adopt Bluefin’s PCI-validated P2PE solution. P2PE secures credit and debit card transactions by encrypting all data within a PCI-approved point of entry device. This prevents clear-text cardholder data from being available within the device, or in the merchant’s system where exposure to malware is possible. Data decryption always occurs offsite in a Bluefin hardware security module (HSM), ensuring the highest level of security.
“Springbrook’s rich understanding of the ever-changing payment security landscape, ‘Fast, Easy, Safe’ approach at a seamless citizen experience, and the early adoption of P2PE is testament to the fact of how innovative and security-focused they are as industry thought leaders” said Morgan Jines, Vice President of Relationship Management, Bluefin.
The case study also details the evolution in government and utility payments, from in-person and call center to mobile and online options, to meet consumer demand. The case study is now available for download.
